Happy Birthday Pauline

One happy bride – 02/04/1993 (Click to enlarge)

Pauline is my wife and full time carer. She didn’t apply for the job – she moved unquestioningly into the carer’s role without complaint. She has stood by me for more than four years as this Prostate Cancer does its thing.

26 May is her birthday and I want you all to know how much I love her and appreciate everything she has done for me throughout this ordeal.

We have been together for some twenty years. We were married in 1993 and have happily shared a good proportion of our lives together. We have been soul mates throughout.

Although we are both Geminis, all four of us get on well together … well most of the time. 🙂

Unfortunately, Pauline supports Carlton whilst I follow Collingwood … not good for any relationship. You don’t want to be in the same room town as this Gemini when she fires up watching the Blues.

It won’t be long and she will have to rearrange her life once again. After I am gone, I expect she will sell up in Euroa and move closer to her daughter and grandchildren in northern New South Wales. Her greatest disappointment has been missing being part of Luka and Isla’s childhood.

Pauline off to Bowls for a break (Click to enlarge)

With the counsel of a neighbour, whose husband died with Prostate Cancer a year ago, Pauline has joined the Euroa Lawn Bowls Club and uses it for casual breaks from me and the carer’s role. She has really taken to the sport. In her first year, she has made a name for herself by winning the annual “100 Up” competition and was even written up in the local paper a few times.

She has become so determined to succeed, Pauline is now playing indoor bowls during the off season of the lawn bowls. However, in the meantime, I want her to know how thankful I am for her courage, strength and devotion to the cause that she has been.

  1. Nicely done Greg. Happy Birthday Pauline I hope the birthday period for both of you (as I believe Greg also has a birthday on the 4th) will be a happy time for you all. Things should be safe and peaceful this weekend as I see Carlton are playing Melbourne on Sunday and Collingwood play Adelaide today.
