Weekly update letter

Dear family and friends

I have just had my quarterly checkup on the state of my prostate cancer and the news is all good.

My latest PSA reading is 1.0 – down from 1.5 just three months ago and I am cinsidered to be in Remission.

Last time I visited the urologist, he prescribed a hormone tablet (Androcor) to hep me with the sweat attacks that had me stripping and towelling down up to a dozen times a day.  The medication cut in around  21 days and now, three months further on, the sweats have gone completely. I still get the occasional hot flush but not severe enough to caue me to strip anymore.

Mr Goad (urologist) checked me out thoroughy today and when he put on the rubber glove, I thought he was about to do the anal digital trick but tht was not to be – thankfully. He has prescibed two more hormone implants and, if the PSA has not gone up at all, we will go off the treatment which, he said, should give me back some strength and stamina.  I dream of the day …My urologist reckons I am doing so well that he doesn’t want to see me for six months – instead of the traditional three monhs – so that is a great sign.  It means we will be able to exchange season’s greetings at least one more time.

The only complication, at the moment, is arthritic pain in the right collar bone area and with the right foot which gives me hassles getting started of a morning.  All things considered, that’s not too bad a price to pay to keep on keeping on.

As to the move from Whitfield to Euroa, we are currently preparing for a Clearance Sale to be held on 15th August – just a week before we move on the 24th August with the settlement of all transactions on the 27th August. If you are local enough and a Clearance Sale fan, come along to 76 Lake Buffalo-Whitfield Road Whitfield with the sale kicking off at 9.00 am.

Apart from the Grey Fergie with all its attachments, the ride on mower and my Ford Ute, we have an extensive range of trademen’s tools, Arc and Oxy welding equipment, sporting gear, collectables, craft equipment and furniture and other sundries.  Come along – you won’t be disappointed.

Regards Greg

  1. Great news, Greg. Good to hear that you’ll be around for the Grand Final & beyond. Who knows, it could be Saints v Pies – I don’t reckon Geelong will get there, they’re going off the boil and seem to have lost the plot.

Sorry though, to hear you missed out on the anal digital trick but I guess not having sex is a small price to pay for “staying alive”.

    Cheers mate.

  3. Ray, you might say a digital rectal examination is better than no sex at all. The mongrels took that away with the female hormone implants over the last 18 months. It’s like the old adage that the best way to put a woman off sex is to marry her.

Mario Thanks for the kind words, It is the blogging that keeps my mind active and it looks like I am to eb around for a while yet.

  5. Remission? Glad to hear it, Greg!

As for the digital rectal thingy, Jayzus, I have NEVER related that to sex, EVER! BLURGH to that idea! And I’ve had more than my share of that during the last 6 months.

    Best, JR

    • Jim, I am with you on the connection between a finger up the arse and anything to do with sex. Was that your fair share of digital rectal thingies or sex in recent times? 😉 How is your health at the moment mate?

      • I read it that JR’s getting plenty up the rear, Greg. A stunning admission.

  6. Aw shucks, the Bright Stud strikes again. 😉 Nothing stunning, Ray, that’s for sure.

Greg, my prostate is behaving itself again and life is back to normal. My GP had to do more than the average few “inspections” that didn’t half annoy the bejayzus out of me.
