“Victorian Country News” is temporarily down

My syndicated website, Country Victorian News has been off the air all day due to the collaapse of the server “Greenlantern”.

Lights out on greenlantern

Users on the server greenlantern will be seeing issues due to a hardware failure. One of our admins is currently swapping the drives to new hardware and hopefully that will get things back up quickly — but there could be further issues. If things decide to get more complicated, we’ll be sure to update this post and let you know right away.

Update: Apparently, a drive swap isn’t going to bring greenlantern back up quickly. We’re now scrambling to restore the server and copy recent backups onto the new machine.

Update: 10:56 PM PST It looks like there were some complications with the restore process so the machine is still down. One of our admins is now en-route to the data center to work on getting everything back up on the server but there is currently no ETA.

If you haven’t caught up with Country Victorian News, please go take a look – when it comes back online.  The main blog syndicated a number of victorian rural blogs auromatically compiling their posts all in the one place.

There is a second blog for Seniors dealing with the issues affecting our ageing population.  All Victorian newspapers feeds are on a page whilst there are Human Rights and Sustainability articles on another
